Milagro

A group of early Hispanic colonists were traveling on the arid plains and miraculously found a spring 35 miles west of Santa Rosa. They settled a village and named it "Milagro," which is Spanish for "miracle." Or so the story goes, and indeed a spring approximately four miles west of the village is still there and is called Milagro Spring. The village was originally 2.5 miles south of what is now I-40; it moved to become a filling station and bus stop on Route 66. Only ranches are there now.
