Vaughn
37 miles south of Santa Rosa, at the junction of three highways (54, 60 and 285) and two railroads (the SP and the AT&SF) is a little town that has been nurtured by transportation throughout its history. Originally Vaughn was a site on the Stinson Cattle Trail from Texas to the Estancia Valley. Later it was given a huge boost when EP&RI Railroad joined the AT&SF Railroad. In fact, it was named for Major G.W. Vaughn, a civil engineer for the AT&SF Railroad.
