Guadalupita and Coyote Creek State Park

Drive northeast of Mora on Hwy 434, past a landscape of beautiful mountain scenery, grazing cows, old corrals and isolated general stores. In 14 miles the journey leads to Guadalupita, a little town in a gentle valley of small farms and ranches. Coyote Creek State Park is near Guadalupita. One of New Mexico's smallest state parks, Coyote Creek is a mere 80 acres on the eastern slope of the Sangre de Cristos. But this park has all an outdoor enthusiast needs. The picnicking and camping sites are beautifully located in a sheltered valley. A nice playground is available for the kids, who will also enjoy seeing the beaver ponds scattered along the Coyote Creek, a tributary of the Mora River. Coyote Creek is a favorite destination of serious anglers. Several well-marked hiking trails run through the park, where hikers especially enjoy viewing the spectacular wildflowers. Full service hookups for RVs are provided.
