Ocate
From Wagon Mound, travel northwest on Hwy 120 to the little town of Ocate, located at mile 26. The Mountain Branch of the Santa Fe Trail crossed here. Calhoun's grist mill, stage station, Post Office and cemetery were located on the Ocate, to the north on the Mora Ranch. Ruts heading south to Fort Union, between Cerro Negro and Encinosa Mesa, are visible .5 mile west of the Mora Ranch Gate. Take Hwy 442 back to La Cueva and Hwy 518 back to Mora.
