Forrest

Two miles south of Hwy 209 is the inhabited Caprock village of Forrest. Two stories are told about the village's name, both about a homesteader named Farr. The first story is that Farr moved here from Missouri in 1907 and named it after his son, Forrest. The second story is that he opened a store and dug a well, which became a popular place for travelers to rest. So the name he came up with was Farr's Rest, which became Forrest.
